6 things you didnt know about the ox

1. oxen are merely cows or cattle that have been taught to work. (hwei, i think this is MUCH CLEARER, HAHA)

2. a 'female ox' is almost an oxymoron (hahaha). most oxen are male, as they ar ebigger and stronger, and thus better for pulling ploughs, carts or wagons.

3. to top it all off, or should we say, chop it all off, they are often castrated males.

4. the ox is downtrodden even in the chinese zodiac. it was out-maneuvered by the rat, which got a free ride across the river on the ox's back only to jump ashore first to win the chinese zodiac race (ahhh this one, i almost forgot).

5. those born in the ox year, take heart - some say there's hope of a life of leisure if you were born in a winter month, as there's nothing to plough or harvest. for those born in spring, you're sentenced to a life of hard labour (not true at all!)

6. the ox is an earth sign. and this is the year of earth ox. expect lots of earth-shattering events. avoid earthquake-prone regions.
