ipod scam

these few days i am very active checking my emails (>50 on the first day!) cuz of a possible 'ipod scam' which i almost plunge into.

it started with this spree on livejournal. the organiser has contacts with a supplier and is selling a 8gb ipod touch for $280. (apple retail: $498)

after knowing that i have to transfer the money over (not cash on delivery), i decided not to risk.

but 5 mins later, i received a email from another livejournal user, selling ipod touch for $220!

so i went to the site and made the payment.. and 10 others too.

the organiser is quite reliable actually. as many people were concerned whether the product is authentic, she volunteered to come up with a terms and conditions for the supplier to sign, completed with the supplier's ic.

but i think the organiser succumb to stress so she decided to call off the spree and transferred the money back to us! and the 11 of us emailed each other everyday to discuss other possible spree and we came across this 2 sites selling 8gb at $120!

it is getting cheaper and cheaper!!

but the catch is, you have to pay the person cash before she will order.

as u know, if a transaction is done through internet banking, a transaction reference will be issued and if anything happens, posb will be able to trace back the person for u but with cash payment, there is no proof.

we sms and email the 2 sites but the sellers didnt reply. what is suspicious is that, all the 4 web use the same pics and their command of language is more or less the same, and the 2 selling $120 were almost identical!

so i have reached a conclusion that the latest scam is on ipod and they are selling at ridiculous prices.. and most sites will post up the entries for a few days but after constant questions and doubt, eventually those entries will be removed and spree called off.

however, the person (the one selling at $220) still went ahead with the spree and there are still some people who choose to stick with her and they are updating us about the latest news from the organiser. hopefully their money will not be cheated and they will get what they ordered.

for those who are interested in ipod touch, pls note that there is a imitation going around now selling at $159 called iTouch and uTouch. they have the basic function but cool applications like msn and wifi are not available. i'm not revealing the blog adds here because i think people will come and chop me up. can msn me if you wanna know more :)

well, i am addicted to gwen stefani recently. listening her old songs which i loveeeeeeeee in the past make me love her even more! and i actually decided to name my daughter gwen next time (chloe is for the other daughter) wahahhaa! *self-delusion*

nah, haven thought of names for boys yet. LOL.
