Qing Ming Festival

i went to sao mu last friday and today, and this coming sunday with my uncle and cousins.

my sisters are all working so i have been the representative to help my parents with the "spring cleaning" these few years. but this year, i noticed that the number of people who still practise this tradition going downhill. maybe it is because they are planning to go over the weekend but i really wonder for how long can this tradition last.

my parents are not getting any younger and today, we went to this ulu place at thomson road. i never knew my great-grandfather was buried there although i always pass the place when i go to school. it's amazing that my parents still visit there cuz my great-grandfather has passed away for 60+ years! my dad was not even born when he died.

i asked my dad if he is the only one who still visit the grave and he said yes and he visit the grave with my mother every year without fail. my other uncles either stopped, or they have never visited the grave before.

there are many graves there (as early as 1936) which are abandoned long ago. i couldn't help but to think who will continue this tradition in the future when my parents are not around. i am proud of my filial parents cuz they are still doing all these when no one else really care. i am really motivated to carry on this tradition cuz i wouldn't want to be abandoned in the future so i shld set a good example to my descendants (hahahaha).

but first of all, i need to memorise the exact location of the graves cuz there are sooooooo many. lim chu kang has 3, toa payoh has 1 stretch (my parents already bought their slots there!), thomson, mandai, bukit gombak.... and some which i still have no idea.

now, the million dollar question.
